Relationship Chaos to New Paradigm Relating
Many people feel a deep concern about the state of the world at the moment...not only environmentally and politically...but also relationally. With up to 40% of Marriages breaking up in Australia, and over 50% in the USA, things don't look too healthy on the relationship front.
It would seem that we are going through a period of chaos...which according to Chaos Theory, is a normal part of the process of change and evolution. How exciting to think that the old unworkable Dominator forms of relating are breaking down...and new forms beginning to emerge!!
This is the first time in over 12,000 years...ie most of so-called written history...that women and men have the chance to come together as 'equals'. As in, with great differences and diversity, but with equal access to rights and resources.
And so, a whole new basic set of skills and attitudes are needed to ensure that relationships, and families and communities survive and prosper. And these skills and attitudes involve questioning and moving away from the old Patriarchal/Dominator System, and towards the Win-Win/Partnership Way.
After working with 1000s of singles and couples since 1991, I find that the majority of people find this very, very difficult. The dominant paradigm of competition and dog-eat-dog is so pervasive... and we are so used to competing with each other, that treating each other as equals, where we don't have to play power games, is almost unimaginable.
Hence, the blog and my books are all about supporting you to create more conscious, creative, compassionate and succulent relationships of all shapes and sizes. And that includes how we relate to everything in our experience : from our bodies, our mind and emotions ... to food, to nature, to how we work ... to political, legal and financial systems.
